Job Description
We are looking for a communications consultant – account manager or senior account executive level. We are interested in applications from those seeking full, part-time and flexible time/compressed roles.
You will be an integral part of our team, working alongside fellow consultants, three senior consultants and supported by our leadership team. You’ll typically be managing up to four client campaigns.
You’ll be required to run day-to-day communications with our clients, implement our strategies for them, and manage the progress of their campaigns. You’ll be responsible for progressing client relationships with the stakeholders they have tasked us with influencing, which could include; traditional media, social media, customer programmes, public sector organisations, internal communications and partners.
You’ll also be part of the team that delivers our Mantis insights such as perception and awareness audits, research and competitor analysis, and training in areas such as crisis simulation and stakeholder communications.
Location is unimportant to us, however, you must be able to attend meetings in London for full days at least once per month, and also be prepared to travel to client meetings. Travel is always paid for.
Why join Mantis?
About us
Mantis is a communications company. We specialise in creating stakeholder dialogue for, and increasing the profile of SME technology companies that target the public sector.
We help technology providers tell stories using clever content circulated through the right channels, to reach the right people.
Founded a decade ago, over the last 10 years we have evolved from a small group of technology PR specialists to a wider team of engagement and marketing campaigners, storytelling and issues management talent.
We have 10 staff, working in locations across the UK, and our office is in Paddington, London. Mantis has been profitable since its existence and currently has 15 international and UK clients.
About how we work
Mantis was conceived on the principles of flexible working and career progression. Our managing directors and senior team previously worked together at the same global technology PR firm, and banded together to create a company that embodies our belief that a superb service can be provided by a communications firm, regardless of location and size, if you work with the best and most passionate people.
During the last decade, our team has provided uninterrupted communications, PR and marketing support to our clients, whilst growing every year. Our oldest client has been with us since our inception.
Our clients see nothing but benefits from our ability to mobilise, listen, create and achieve, fast and flawlessly, from wherever we happen to be. Our team is 100% energised and focused on work, because Mantis affords them the ability to not have to put themselves, their wellbeing, or their families last.
We believe Mantis is proof that this type of communications businesses can lead the way and set examples for larger firms to follow. Our collaborative attitude and communal belief that the way we work is best for us, and our clients, knits us together. We think it makes us more open-minded to change and less judgemental about the way others work.
We’re looking for someone who truly believes in similar values and is willing to work with us in our very close-knit team to keep providing the same exemplary service.
Mantis is a finalist this year in the Comms2point0 public sector PR awards for best joint campaign, and in the Women in Marketing Digital Mums Work that Works category for flexible businesses.
Mantis salary and benefits
The salary range offered is £29-£37k per annum full-time, although, as we’ve said, we’re very open to considering any flexible working patterns.
Other benefits to working with us include:
- A Macbook air, an iPhone and calls, printer and other associated technology, plus help with your utility bills as part of your home office
- Good holiday allowance plus additional day’s holiday on birthday and anniversary
- Regular in-house and external training
- Pension and company credit card
Who you are
The right consultant will be able to show solid technology public relations experience – the issues, the media and social media landscape, and the technology itself.
We are particularly interested in candidates that know the healthcare sector well, although it’s not essential. However, general public sector knowledge will also help you immensely, for example experience of working with clients selling to the NHS, local government, schools, etc.
Good media relationships are an absolute minimum requirement, because ours are, in the tech and public sector, second to none. However, it doesn’t stop there for us. Extra experience of working with other influencers, such as analysts, government officials, NHS Trusts, local government or trade associations would be very advantageous.
Our clients expect digital experience, from writing for blogs to social media management, so some experience here would be preferable.
Client service is everything to us. The proven ability to ‘win over’ clients in a short space of time, so that they trust and value your input, will be pivotal in this role.
As we’ve mentioned, this role involves you working from the location of your choice, for the predominant part of your week. This could be our Paddington office, your home, or anywhere you choose. You’ll be meeting up with teams, line managers and the whole company when necessary, but, we’re looking for people for whom working flexibly is either a natural habitat or a positive choice, and one that sits comfortably with you in terms of your personality.
