TIME Top 100 Best Invention to Mantis’ medtech portfolio
Written by Martine LeveneAs the sun brightens our days, so too does the relationship with our exciting new healthtech and medtech client, OrCam Technologies.
At Mantis we love working with technology providers that change the world for the better and improve the day-to-day lives of millions of people. And it doesn’t come much better than this new client. Named one of TIME Magazine’s top 100 Best Inventions of 2019, OrCam changes the lives of individuals who are blind, partially sighted, or have reading challenges with its wearable assistive AI devices.
Often described as “talking glasses”, the finger-size OrCam MyEye 2 device attaches to the frame of glasses and instantly reads aloud printed or digital text from any surface, as well as identifies faces, currency and product information from bar codes – all in real time and offline. OrCam MyEye 2 can also be useful for those with reading difficulties like dyslexia.
OrCam Technologies was founded by Israeli innovators, Professor Amnon Shashua and Mr. Ziv Aviram who previously jointly founded Mobileye, subsequently acquired by Intel Corp.
Mantis will be working on a consumer communications programme to support OrCam’s ambitious UK growth, as part of its global reach. Mantis has already placed a firm stake in the ground with recent coverage in Forbes, on how OrCam’s AI-driven technology helps visually impaired people during Covid-19 lockdown.
Tsachi Moshinsky, OrCam’s UK Director says: “We are looking forward to working with Mantis over the coming months to help us increase awareness of our brand and products in the UK. It is an exciting time to expand our presence in the UK market and reach consumers who can benefit from OrCam’s life-changing technology.”
We are not the only fans of the product. On his official visit to Israel in 2018, HRH Prince William, declared MyEye 2 to be “absolutely incredible”. We couldn’t agree more.
